When I met with Dr. Kafka in January, I weighed in at 117, which was very uncomfortable because I have always been very petite. The HCG treatment was very effective, I lost 11 pounds, and on my last day of treatment, February 3, I weighed 106. I have maintained that weight and have been following the recommended protocols. I did not take my vitamins during the treatment period, and was surprised by the amount of energy I had. The third day of the treatment was the most difficult in that I was exhausted but rebounded on the fourth day and never looked back.
It is so nice to be able to fit into my clothes, and to be back with energy and enthusiasm, and not to be daily preoccupied with what new treatment I will try to kick-start my metabolism.
I don’t know if you remember but even after you helped me balance my thyroid, I had a personal trainer, worked out daily, and committed more than six months of energy into trying to budge the scale…nothing worked except the HCG.
Dr. Kafka was wonderful to work with because he did not trivialize my angst nor did he patronize me. This was a welcomed departure from previous conversations with other medical personnel, and I don’t believe I would have had the determination to keep trying to problem solve without the support of both Dr. Kafka and his assistant Carrie. I did the HCG program under Dr. Kafka’s supervision and released 20 pounds. I followed the protocols precisely and have maintained my set weight to within 2 pounds for over three months now despite extensive business travel and including eating way too much turkey and stuffing for Thanksgiving dinner.
This is the only way that I would ever recommend anyone attempt to lose weight in the form of stored fat. When I look back over all the other weight loss programs I’ve tried over the past 12 years, I feel sad to know that I blamed myself when really those methods either didn’t work or were unsustainable. The HCG program with Dr. Kafka’s support works. It’s just that simple.
I will confess to becoming a little neurotic over whether or not the right amount of pounds were dropping off each day. Dr. Kafka was always available to address my concerns – over phone or email. Mostly he gently reminded me to just do the program and let go of the outcome. This leap of faith – just do it and allow it to work on and through me – was one of the biggest benefits of the program.
If you decide this is for you, my recommendations are to just do it, don’t try to get fancy with substitutions. If you are suffering at all reach out to Dr. Kafka immediately. In the weeks that I was on the 500 calorie diet, I only experienced hunger or any discomfort at all for a total of six hours. I recommend finding a time to do this experience when you can completely avoid travel. Finally, keep a food diary and a journal so that you can fully mine this experience for all the learning possible.
I am sincerely looking forward to doing a second round of HCG and that should be it for me to be back to a very healthy weight for my height and age. I have 100% confidence that it will work, that I’ll be completely supported by Dr. Kafka, and that the results will be easy for me to sustain over a long period of time.

This is not hyperbole: My life has been changed by the HCG program as prescribed and administered by Dr. Kafka. I began the program in November 2010 and lost about 20 lbs. HCG and Dr. Kafka were life-savers for me. I am a 67 year old nurse who decided to do something about my weight at 65. I was 100 pounds overweight. I have watched people who have done other programs, including surgery, who have become more overweight in the long-term than before they did the programs. For this reason, I did quite a bit of research into what could help me. I felt safer doing the program under a doctor’s supervision as the program seemed so drastic and was lucky enough to find Dr. Kafka.
I met Dr. Kafka and immediately felt safe with him. I learned I would have to have a physical and lab evaluation before being accepted into the program, and I would need to come to weekly support groups. In addition Dr. Kafka would be on-call for the duration of the program and encouraged me to call if encountering problems with the program. I enjoyed the program because, not only did I lose weight, but I had no problem doing it. I was lucky to have euphoria throughout the three-week initial part of the program when I ate 500 calories a day. Those 500 calories were strictly limited in kinds of foods. I had some weakness and was mildly hungry for two of the days after day 5. I called Dr. Kafka and, after a thorough evaluation, he increased my dose of the HCG minimally and the hunger went away. I had no further problems.
The second 3 weeks of the program I could have anything I wanted in small amounts except sugar and starch. This part of the program cemented the weight loss.
In the support groups run by Dr. Kafka, I learned much more about the physiological reasons the program works, heard of others problems and triumphs, was validated for my own life journey, gained insights into the reasons for becoming overweight in the first place, and learned techniques for keeping the weight off and bringing joy into my life. Group was often emotional, but invaluable. There were even generational revelations which were enormously helpful in understanding our problems with overweight. The groups monitored and directed by Dr. Kafka were such an important part of the program, I cannot imagine succeeding with long-term maintenance of weight loss without them. I wanted to take this time to extend my gratitude to you for the HCG program that you have been offering over the years. I also wanted to share with you some of my insights and experiences since my third and final round almost 8 months ago.
HCG is becoming increasingly popular these days as a weight management only program. However, I have found that the way that you facilitate this program is much more than just a weight loss protocol; it’s an opportunity to discover ourselves, address suppressed emotions and experiences, claim our energy in a new way and set ourselves up for future success. As you know, I completed 3 programs, each time taking 4 months to integrate those changes. Two of these cycles were more challenging physically for me as I had to work through all of them. One cycle was more demanding emotionally as a lot of buried energy surfaced for me to confront and release. As you also know, I didn’t have much weight to lose in the first place but was able to keep off 10 – 15 lbs. The biggest gift for me throughout all of this was the acceptance that I was able to reach of my changing body. This program assisted me in reaching a level of freedom that I haven’t known before regarding aging and the physical changes that follow. My life has been changed in a way that I did not expect with new perspectives which are leading to new work opportunities, new exercise routines, new eating patterns (thanks to the Inherent Health DNA profile), and I am unexpectedly more ambidextrous. Working with Dr. Kafka and the HCG Protocol has been nothing short of a miracle in my life! Due to many underlying factors, I had come to a point in my life where all I could do was gain weight… even when I was eating 600 calories a day! It was a blessing in disguise when I was referred to you by my nurse practitioner. I was 50 plus pounds overweight, experiencing hot flashes, and going through two of life’s changing experiences. I had just moved across country to be near my daughter and was in the process of starting a new business.
Losing the weight was important but it was also about being healthy not only physically but emotionally. The HCG program is an exceptional way to lose weight as long as you are dedicated to following the rules exactly as recommended. I was able to lose 60 lbs. in three sessions. It is, however, very important to attend the support meetings to gain from others experiences and to stay connected. Because there was a distance to travel each time, I was unable to attend weekly an because I ran out of funds to complete my goal of weight loss, I fell into a trap of not supporting myself and did not maintain the weight I lost. First of all, thank you. I have struggled with my weight since I was 30 years old (I am now 60). I’ve started a diet to lose weight every morning for the last twenty years. My failure to lose weight or stick to a diet translated into feeling I was a failure, which developed into a fear of failure. This became my life theme. I used to be courageous but I gave up believing in myself. I felt if I couldn’t control my weight, how could I expect to be successful in my life. I watched myself transform into a person I thought society regarded as less. This was not entirely a “figment” of my imagination. I have lived the life of a slender attractive person and watched people treat me special because of it. I have also watched my “value” go down as my weight went up. That has all changed. I still need to lose 100 pounds, but emotionally I’m already that slender, confident person I was at 30 years of age thanks to this program. This is a program, not a diet. Six Months and Holding
When people say things like, “It changed my life,” I tend to be skeptical. However, going on the HCG diet under the guidance of Dr. Kafka, changed mine.
Prior to the diet, I had many healthy habits. I got enough sleep, drank lots of water, exercised, ate plenty of organic fruits and vegetables, no red meat, read, wrote, entertained family and friends and made art. But that wasn’t enough. Both thyroid disease and menopause and my own habits had slowed my metabolism close to a halt. I was overweight and heading for disease with an increasing cholesterol count.
The diet was not easy, but it was possible. I had to radically change the way I did things for three weeks. Then I had to modify and fine-tune my new lifestyle for another three while I maintained the fifteen pounds that I lost. I was so pleased with my weight loss that motivation became my middle name. Journaling during this six-week program and for approximately a month after brought some key elements to the forefront. I had to watch my portion control, but I would not be hungry because I would eat 5-6 small meals a day. I also learned that I had a problem with carbohydrates, but mostly white and processed ones. I could still eat whole grains, just not as much. Last, I changed my exercise plan to be more efficient with less time involved using Mark Lauren’s book You are Your Own Gym. The diet and the changes that I made allowed my metabolism to be more effective then before. Overall, I felt terrific and slowly lost another five pounds.
Twenty pounds lighter I embarked on my new life with more vigor and pride. I had gone down a dress size and my clothes felt better on me. My cholesterol went down and my energy up. Today, I get on the scale daily. If I go up a pound or two, I watch myself carefully the next day and go on a walk. I found with this program I can have pizza occasionally; drink wine judiciously, though I have stayed away from beer and mixed drinks out of choice. I can have sweet things, leaning toward the healthy and still maintain my desired weight. In other words, I have a healthy, satisfying lifestyle, I don’t feel hungry, anxious or deprived. Over the past few years I had gained 12 lbs and found it difficult if not impossible to lose. I had always enjoyed being slim and now at 66 years of age, I was carrying a 12 lb. turkey around my middle. I found this unappealing and I was concerned about my health as both my parents suffered from heart disease. Dr. Kafka encouraged me to go on the HCG treatment. I found it relatively easy as I could eat the allowed foods during my own daily routine. The HCG also elevated me into a more calm and uplifting mental state. The follow up diet was a breeze as my body was no longer craving sugar or carbs. Having given up the sugar and carbs, I no longer had mood swings or sluggishness. I not only lost the 12lbs, I gained a whole new perspective of healthy eating and thinking. I look and feel healthier and more youthful. At Dr. Kafka’s suggestion, after completing the maintenance program I added 1 new food item a day to see how my body was metabolizing it. Each morning, I weighed myself after the new food was introduced. If I gained any weight, I knew my body was converting this particular food into fat. I discovered that all sugar, wheat, gluten, bananas or anything white like rice, potatoes or pasta made the scale go up! Luckily, 4 oz of red wine, which I love, could be enjoyed without weight gain, as long as I was eating what was right for me. Once in awhile when I eat at a friend’s house and go off limits, I know I’ll gain a pound but also I now know how to lose it immediately. I’ve turned it into a game I play with myself to see what this 66 year-old body can now tolerate without gaining weight. I welcome the new knowledge that keeps me slim and healthy. I continue to enjoy eating out in restaurants, minus the items that are out of limits for me. The program also made me realize that I can achieve whatever I set out to do. Change is good. Amazing. I lost 20 pounds in 40 days. I feel great. I love not drinking wine. The 500 calories was easy because of the appetite suppression from HCG and Dr. Kafka’s support was tremendously helpful.
Our son is a practicing physician in Ojai, CA. He strongly urged us to come and see Dr. Kafka in order to undergo his HCG treatment program. We came especially from Romania to have the opportunity to be treated by Dr. Kafka.

I can’t believe that a year has come and gone since I did the HCG program with Dr. Kafka. I have kept the 13 pounds that I lost during the program off, which has been so life affirming. I went to Dr. Kafka when I could not lose weight. I was working out five days a week and eating a low calorie diet, and I could not budge the 10 pounds that had crept on. I was so discouraged and exhausted, and felt fat in my clothes.
The injections were the first hurdle that I had to overcome, but after the third injection, it became an insignificant part of my morning routine. I never felt hungry during the diet portion of the program when I only ate 500 calories per day. I became adept at baking my protein in parchment paper in the oven. The food tasted good with fresh herbs, and I never felt deprived. Dr. Kafka was always available via email and phone, and if I had any questions, he got back to me within a day.
My husband watched me do the program and was very skeptical, especially of the injections. He watched the weight come off and stay off and he decided to try the HCG program for himself. He completed the program a year ago and lost 17 pounds, which he has also managed to keep off. It has been a very positive experience for us both. Weighing ourselves each morning has become part of our routine, and keeps us on track with our weight maintenance.
